The "Heaven Room" Burghley House
The "Heaven Room" Burghley House
This room is decorated to represent a vision of Heaven. The walls and ceiling are by Antonio Verrio and date between 1686 and 1697. His genius in the use of perspective and shadow, plus the way he has spread the art-work across the angle of the ceiling and wall, gives the whole an impressive three dimensional effect.
