SE1522 : Old canopies, Armytage Road, Clifton
taken 18 years ago, near to Brighouse, Calderdale, England
Old canopies, Armytage Road, Clifton
Both houses have the same type, so the iron brackets are probably the original ones from the 19C. Perhaps the perforated wooden sides are also as old as that.
These properties were owned by (and probably built by) the Brighouse Co-operative Society Ltd. Across the yard at the back of these dwellings a building, probably now demolished, housed the Society's slaughterhouse on the ground floor and their cabinet works (joiners shop) on the first floor! In the mid to late 1980s the houses were divided into bedsits.
