An Anglican parish church in Norham, Northumberland, situated close to the River Tweed. Legend has it that Aidan crossed the Tweed here en route from Iona to establish the monastery on Lindisfarne in 635. Cuthbert’s coffin – and the Lindisfarne Gospels – were brought here in 875. The church was dedicated in mediaeval times to the three saints Peter, Cuthbert and Ceowulf (King of Northumbria and allegedly buried in the churchyard) - representing the influence of both Roman and Celtic Christianity. The present building simply dedicated to the Northumbrian saint dates from the 12th century, with later additions. The church is listed grade 1 (list entry number 1303605)
