Those named on the Covenanters' Memorial near Maybole
First named is (Donald) Cargill who was executed for his faith in 1691. See LinkExternal link . The other six local covenanters (Eccles-Horne-McGarron-McHarrie-McWhirter-Rodger) had already died in 1689; drowned at sea when the slave ship on which they were being transported to the West Indies foundered in a storm.
