Opening the paddles on Wilmcote Top Lock No.40 to allow the water to fill the lock chamber and raise the boat up to the level of the canal beyond. The water can be seen rushing into the chamber just below the cill under the lock gate. the woman is just removing the handle from the paddle control mechanism.
