Northbourne: “Super moon” over Etches Close
Looking southeast across the rooftop of a house in Etches Close at 10:06pm BST, as the full moon rises during its perigee - i.e. the time in its oval orbit when it is closest to Earth. The coincidence of the perigee and the fullness of the moon mean that it has a brighter and larger appearance than usual, and fortunately this evening it coincided with clear skies in Bournemouth, unlike much of the country.
