The Flodden Wall, Drummond Street
The Flodden Wall, Drummond Street
Part of the early 16th century city wall (dated to around 1513).
Building of the wall is traditionally linked to the fear of English invasion after the Battle of Flodden in 1513, but in many places it is clear that construction had begun earlier. The section here shows more than one phase of construction, as well as a clearly defined addition, probably of 19th century date. The wall is a Scheduled Monument.
