Hereford & Gloucester Canal - Oxenhall Lock and lock house
Hereford & Gloucester Canal - Oxenhall Lock and lock house
This 34 mile canal was built between 1793 and 1845 but was too late to be viable and closed in 1881 when the Gloucester Newent Railway was laid on part of the formation. A society has done some restoration in this area and it is hoped to eventually reopen the canal.

The roads around here are narrow and parking opportunities are severely limited. I did manage to park nearby, in what I thought was an acceptable position, but returned to find a message under my wipers asking me not to do that again.
