TG3830 : Cliff erosion, Happisburgh

taken 12 years ago, near to Happisburgh, Norfolk, England

Cliff erosion, Happisburgh
Cliff erosion, Happisburgh
The boulders in the foreground have been imported in an attempt to control the erosion, but it continues. Properties on either side of the house have been demolished before they collapsed onto the beach. The sandstone cliffs provide a suitable habitat for sand martins.
The house seen here was demolished a few months later (December 2013), after a storm and tidal surge left the nearest corner overhanging the cliff.
