The NJ0063 : Plaque to Mary McCallum Webster explains the reason for the stone. Mary McCallum Webster lived in the nearby village of Dyke, and was recognised as the foremost authority on the botany of Moray, Nairn and Eastern Inverness-shire. Her book is a detailed account of which species have been found where in her area, and the sheer number of records seen by her personally, many in the rough and mountainous parts, is a testament to her determination to record the plants of the remotest areas.
