Mill Bridge and Mill Pool from Silver Street Bridge
Mill Bridge and Mill Pool from Silver Street Bridge
The brick bridge is the only remains of two water mills, King's Mill and Bishop's Mill, which stood here for several centuries. Behind the two bridge arches seen here are the chutes where the mill wheels stood. The two mills were combined and converted to steam power in the mid C19. They were demolished in the 1920s. The building on the left is The Mill public house, late C18. Try LinkExternal link

The large building beyond is The University Centre, built in 1967. It is "one of finest examples of brutalist architecture in Cambridge". See LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
