SX6391 : Cosdon Hill, summit trig point

taken 12 years ago, near to Belstone, Devon, England

Cosdon Hill, summit trig point
Cosdon Hill, summit trig point
At one time thought to be the highest point on Dartmoor, but at 550 metres, the hill is significantly lower than the actual highest point, High Willhays, at 621 metres. Cosdon Hill is, however, very significant in terms of archaeological and historical interest, as the hill is peppered with relics of man's past activities and beliefs. The trig point itself is built upon the remains of a large cairn, which, being at the summit, may be the oldest one on the hill.
