Spurn Point lifeboat station
The lifeboat station was founded in 1810 and the paid crew was one of the busiest of the RNLI's all-weather lifeboats, dealing with more than 50 incidents a year. It was the only one in the country that was staffed full-time. The lifeboatmen and their families even lived in cottages on the peninsula until 2012.
However, the jetty's structural issues and aging infrastructure issues made it "essential to operate from elsewhere", according to the RNLI. As a consequence the station was closed in 2023.
The lifeboat was moved to Grimsby which had been the satellite site for the Humber lifeboat for many years.
