The Wiki entry
Link says that the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge, completed in 1911, is the furthest downstream bridge across the River Tees. It connects the A178 in Middlesbrough, on the south bank, to Port Clarence, on the north bank. It carries a travelling 'car', or 'gondola', suspended from the bridge, across the river in 90 seconds. The gondola can carry 200 people, 9 cars, or 6 cars and one minibus. The bridge is Grade II* listed.
There are only eight other similar surviving transporter bridges in the world
Link. Two of these are in the UK: The Newport bridge

Link is currently not in use. It is one of two originally at this site; the other, from 1905, has not survived.
