The plaque reads:- "Sweet Teampall Nua In an unmarked grave sleeps Thomas O'Connellan Renouned (sic) poet-harper of Cloonamahon. Co. Sligo who died in Bourchier's Castle, Lough Gur in 1698 A.D. This plaque also honours Owen Bresnan (1847 - 1912) local poet and historian, whose song "Teampall Nua", kept O'Connellan's memory alive. Those who love his Irish melodies, enchanting and sublime, should raise a wreath of laurels o'er his grave. It was finally done by Lough Gur & Dist. Hist. Soc. in June 1991".
