This interesting view includes the main east - west track between the lighthouse and the visitor's centre which is the prominent building. The rocky, low lying area is Brough Sounds and the pedestrian causeway which is uncovered at low tide is centre right of the photograph. Beyond that the land rises to the Point of Buquoy and the first inlet is Skipi Geo. The skyline centre left of the photograph is named as "Skeres Naquer" on OS maps.
Had you noticed that the three guys on this stone HY2328 : Pictish Symbol stone on The Brough of Birsay. are the logo of John Donald Publishers of Edinburgh? When I first saw the stone, I couldn't work out why the figures were familiar, then a look on my bookshelves reminded me where I'd seen them.
