Another view of this lovely terrace is shown in NZ4920 : Queens Terrace (photographed by Mick Garratt).

The Evening Gazette's "history" page LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) says that "Queen's Square, situated in the parish of St Hilda's was at one time the centre of the financial and commercial district of Middlesbrough. Several imposing buildings graced both sides of the wide street, which was given the name 'square' although technically it is not. However, Queen's Square was a large open space in an otherwise densely built and populated urban area".

Shows the locations of NZ4920 : Inscribed quoins at Queen's Square, TS1 and NZ4920 : Entrance door in the terrace at Queen's Square, TS1.
