The end of the line at Manuel
The end of the line at Manuel
The end of the Scottish Railway Preservation Society's line; a platform has recently been built, allowing passengers to get out while the locomotive runs round the train to return to Bo'ness. See Richard West's image from two years earlier for the site before the addition NS9677 : Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway : The End Of The Line at Bo'ness Junction. This was the site of rail accident in 1874, when the late running East Coast train was split at Edinburgh, half for Glasgow, half for Perth. The late Glasgow portion was mistakenly assumed to be the second part for Perth and a goods train waiting in the siding was then allowed out, and the Perth train collided with it, with the death of 16 people.
