taken 12 years ago, near to Oxshott, Surrey, England

d'Abernon Chase, Prince's Coverts
The drive from the Star on the Leatherhead Road to d'Abernon Chase, at the south-east corner of Prince's Coverts. The gate is often left open, because the gate beyond, on the other side of the clearing, is kept locked (on this evening however, the second gate was open owing to forestry work, and the first gate was closed). To the left is visible a Crown Estate sign about access to the Coverts, adjacent to a bridle gate giving access to a ride leading south-west out of d'Abernon Chase (this too is usually kept locked).
Prince's Coverts :: TQ1459
Prince's Coverts are 349 ha of coniferous and deciduous forestry owned by the Crown Estate, and located east of Oxshott village. The Coverts are named after Prince Leopold of Belgium, who lived at Claremont Park in Esher: the Claremont Estate was purchased by the Crown Estate on his marriage to Princess Charlotte.
The Coverts are open to the public, although visitors are expected to acquire a key for the gates, which are sometimes locked. A permit is also available (at some considerable cost) for horse riders.
