The Black Path
Running from South Bank to Dabholm Gut this Public Footpath was locally known as the Black Path because of the amount of soot that was ever present from the nearby smelting furnaces. On this stretch only the South Bank Coke Ovens remain operating. The path has optimistically been included in the Teesdale Way, a long distance footpath [LinkExternal link]
