Cobblers Cottage and Heatherdell
Cobblers Cottage and Heatherdell
Two cottages facing onto Oxshott Heath close to Oxshott Station. The lawn in front of the houses is part of the common, and public bridleway Esher 63a passes along the left hand side of it.
Oxshott Heath :: TQ1361

An area of common land, now mainly woodland, extending to around 80ha, contiguous with Esher Common to the north, and straddling Warren Lane and Sandy Lane. Although owned by Elmbridge Borough Council, Oxshott Heath is managed by a board of conservators established by a provisional order made under the Commons Act 1876, and confirmed by the Commons Regulation (Oxshott) Provisional Order Confirmation Act 1904. Unusually, the common was exempted from registration as common land under the Commons Registration Act 1965. Some small parts of the common remain heathland, particularly on the slopes north of Oxshott station, while efforts have been made to recreate heath near the sandpit west of Warren Lane.
