Former drovers road in Cwm Doethie Fawr, Ceredigion
The upper Doethie valley is always a beautiful sight in fine summer weather, though it can be very hot as it was on this day. The road from Llanddewi-Brefi went to Abergwesyn. The route over the hill from here, near Ty'n Cornel hostel, to Soar-y-Mynydd is passable with four wheel drive vehicles, so several parts are being ruined by erosion from the "off-road" convoys. Fewer sheep graze here than formerly, and a few Welsh Black cattle are occasionally seen earning their subsidy for the land. Buzzards, red kites, ravens, crows, magpies, and chaffinches, with house martins and swallows near buildings, seem to make up most of the bird population, though there are many others.
