St James' Chapel and Lord Leycester Hospital
St James' Chapel and Lord Leycester Hospital
This group of buildings (never a medical establishment), originally home of the Warwick Guilds, comprise a chantry chapel, a great hall and guild hall and various buildings from the 14th and 15th centuries. They were acquired and endowed in 1571 by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leycester, as a retirement home for ex-servicemen and their wives; a role which it still performs today.
