Here, not far from its source at Hay Bottom, the Little Avon River flows through fields and steep-sided valleys on its way to join the River Severn near Berkeley. It seems incredible that the monks of Kingswood Abbey once set up mills for cloth making alongside this now tiny stream. It is said to be an example of a misfit stream - one which seems to bear little or no relation to the breadth and depth of the valley through which it runs. Time photo taken not available.
