SK5739 : Nottingham Station resignalling
taken 11 years ago, near to Nottingham, England
During July and August 2013 Nottingham Station has been closed to almost all* rail traffic while the track layout is completely revised to improve the flexibility and capacity of the station. A major scheme of rail replacement bus services has been put in place, with services running to Alfreton, Beeston, Derby, East Midlands Parkway, Grantham, Newark and Worksop. Permanent-style bus stops have been installed, complete with electronic departure displays, and buses have been hired in from a whole variety of operators. To cope with the volume of buses, a special bus-only lane has been created on part of Queen's Road, and the eastern section of Station Street is a bus-only street.
*for parts of the closure the rail service to Skegness will still use the station.
