Headington Quarry, Oxford
Holy Trinity Church in the "Quarry" area of Headington was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and was built in 1848–49 in 'Revived Decorated Gothic' style. It is situated in a hollow that may have been left after extensive stone quarrying in this area. It lies midway along an unmade track that links Quarry Road and Trinity Road. No Anglican church existed in Risinghurst where C.S. Lewis lived from 1930 onwards and therefore this was the Church that he chose to attend for the remainder of his life after his conversion to Christianity in 1931. He died in 1963 and is buried in this churchyard, as is his brother Warren ("Warnie") Lewis, who died in 1973 and who was later buried in the same grave.
