Parson's Pleasure Weir, Oxford
Parson's Pleasure Weir, Oxford
A picture taken from the side of the weir. The weir was created to take water from the east-flowing River Cherwell towards an off-shot channel that passes under the bridge in the distance. One end of a 'roller-way', used for transferring punts from the higher level of the River Cherwell into this southerly-travelling branch of the Cherwell, is marked by a security barrier/hand-rail. Mesopotamia Walk - that extends from Linacre College, St Cross Road to Ferry Road, New Marston - crosses the bridge ahead. The former Parson's Pleasure nude-male bathing area is located behind the photographer.
