SP5207 : Parson's Pleasure Weir, Oxford

taken 12 years ago, near to Oxford, Oxfordshire, England

Parson's Pleasure Weir, Oxford
Parson's Pleasure Weir, Oxford
This weir was created (date?) to take water from the east-flowing River Cherwell into an off-shot channel behind the photographer. It is perhaps still possible for the 'roller-way' here to be used for transferring punts from the higher level River Cherwell in the distance into this lower level, southerly-flowing branch. This beauty spot is accessible from Mesopotamia Walk behind the photographer. The latter is a cycle-track/footpath that extends from Linacre College, St Cross Road to Ferry Lane, New Marston.
