Dedham Church, South Wall
The Parish Church of St Mary, on Dedham High Street, is a Grade I listed building dating from the late fifteenth century.

The painting, hung above the South Porch, is by John Constable. It was originally commissioned for Manningtree Church in 1821. It was once thought to be a study of the Resurrection of Christ but restoration made it clear that the subject is the Ascension.
