Drax Power Station - biomass infrastructure
Drax Power Station - biomass infrastructure
Drax is converting 3 of its 6 units to biomass firing at a cost of about 700 million. This shows the four large storage dome capable of each holding 110,000 cubic metres, the rail unloading facility (near the right-hand edge and overlapped by the razor wire) and the massive transport system and cyclones. At least some of the transport is by pneumatics. Special enclosed rail wagons have been built purely for this job to bring the pellets from the port to the power station. This is a huge leap of faith and at a stroke Drax will apparently burn more biomass than the rest of Europe combined.
