Southwold Jack is a famous icon of Southwold. He is a ‘Clock Jack’ who resides in St. Edmund’s Church in Southwold. Named ‘Jack the Smiter’, he stands 4 feet 4 inches tall and is constructed of painted wood. His armour is that of a soldier from the Wars of the Roses in the 1400s. His role was to strike the hours on the church bell with his battleaxe.

Southwold Jack, has been used as a trademark for Adnams Brewery since 1912 and this replica sits on the wall of their Sole Bay Brewery.
