The Pig Pen, Charlecote Park
The Pig Pen, Charlecote Park
The pen contains four Tamworth gilts (young females) 3-4 months old.

Tamworth pigs are thought to be the purest of our native breeds and the closest living relative of the old English forest pig. Numbers declined after the Second World War as farmers were encouraged to keep more economical and productive pigs and tastes were changing with consumers demanding leaner pork. The breed is classed as "at risk" by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.
