Disused gate lodge, Craigavad (2013-3)
Disused gate lodge, Craigavad (2013-3)
A sandstone chimney with two identical pots one of which seems to show little sign of the effects of soot. The photograph, in “The Gate Lodges of Ulster”, taken when the lodge was occupied, shows only one pot.
Former gate lodge, Craigavad
Visible from the Belfast – Bangor road and known as the “Bangor Lodge”. Built circa 1851 to a design by Thomas Turner with a much later flat-roofed extension to the rear. Vacant, overgrown and on the “at risk” register
