Entrance to Hassop Hall
The name's the same....and that's all!
I think it was Billy Bunter who was always alluding to (non-existent) "titled relations". Hassop and the surrounding countryside was once the stamping ground of a rich family called Eyre, who even went so far as to make a claim to be the Earls of Newburgh LinkExternal link Now tracing the family tree has never really been my bag but I can tell you no-one in my branch has ever owned more than a modest semi!
