Lavender growing, Mayfield Farm
Lavender growing, Mayfield Farm
The area south of London around the headwaters of the Wandle - Mitcham, Wallington, Carshalton - has for centuries been a centre for herb production. This area south of Carshalton is said to have been the centre for world lavender production around 1900. Mayfield Farm, open to the public during the summer season, carries on this tradition.
