Ballycloughan Primary School near Saintfield :: J4161
A small primary school, beside the Ballygowan Road, between Saintfield and Ballygowan. It closed on 30 August 2011. The official announcement, by the Minister of Education, stated “It is with regret that I have agreed the closure of this small rural primary school. However, with a steady decline in enrolments over a period of several years, leading to a total enrolment of only 17 pupils in the 2010/11 school year, I feel that my decision is in the best educational interests of the remaining pupils”.
