St Oswald's Church, Ashbourne, Derbys.
St Oswald's Parish Church, Church Street, with its 212ft high spire was once referred to by Mary Anne ("Marian") Evans (1819-80) - a.k.a. George Eliot, the Victorian writer, - as the "finest single spire in England". Here the church and the Parish Hall are seen from the southern end of School Lane, near to its junction with Leisure Way.
