Exposure Sculpture
Located on the roof of the De La Warr Pavilion, Matt Calderwood's sculptures (b. 1975, Northern Ireland) explore the potential of sculptural language by examining the physical properties and dynamic between materials. Elements of chance and failure.

They are part of an exhibition presenting two commissions specific to the Pavilionís architecture and environment. The exhibits are made of welded steel and paper, materials with contrasting qualities, Exposure Sculptures are a group of geometric structures which will be placed on the outdoor roof terrace for several months before being reassembled and presented in the gallery. Exposed to extreme conditions such as heavy wind, salty air and the intense sunlight of the south coast, the sculptures will go through dramatic weathering and transformation.
