TF3061 : The Red Lion A155 Revesby

taken 13 years ago, near to Revesby, Lincolnshire, England

The Red Lion A155 Revesby
The Red Lion A155 Revesby
Owned by the local Wainfleet brewery George Bateman and Son Ltd. The building shows elements of the mid 19th century arts and crafts movement similar to the adjacent 1862 almshouses and contains details the same as 13 to 15 The Green but it seems to have existed before 1835 suggesting an early 19th century date. Consulting my directories for a Red Lion in Revesby I find the following entries, 1835 David Stennett, 1856-1872 William Stennett (described in 1872 as farmer and victualler), 1885-1913 Robert Cole (described in 1905 as ‘farmer & brewer. Closed on Sundays’) and 1919 Fredrick Shaw (also farmer). In November 2021 its website claims it has ‘newly refurbished en-suite rooms’.
