Edith Holden, author of
The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, lived with her family in a house called Gowan Bank from 1890 to 1897. According to Ina Taylor's biography
The Edwardian Lady it was an old house with extensive gardens backing onto the railway cutting and lay about 300 yards north of Kingswood (now Lapworth) Station. The family later moved to a new house in Olton, which they also called
SP1382 : Gowan Bank, and this was where her Nature Notes, the source of the Diary published long after her death, were compiled.
