From April to September, powered craft are not permitted on the River Cam upstream of Jesus Lock. This is due to the large number of punts using the narrow river along the Backs (Cam Conservancy LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) ). There is a key-operated swing bridge for boaters to access the lock island (right).
