Grantham Canal, Bridge#64 (Casthorpe Bridge)
The opening of the new Casthorpe Road Bridge in 1995 was probably the most significant event in the restoration of the Grantham Canal since the last working boat left it when the canal closed to navigation in 1929. Instead of dereliction and obstacles to navigation, which had been present for the last 60 years, a brand new bridge replaced the previous low-level obstruction and there is now ample headroom for boats to pass under the Sedgebrook to Denton Road.
