Penarth Fawr Medieval Hall, Chwilog
A scheduled Ancient Monument Penarth Fawr is a 15th century spere truss hall house believed to have been built by Madoc of Penarth in 1416. It was restored by W.P.Evans. In 1940 W.J.Hemp told us that 'The building at one time extended further north, the present north wall appears to be of 18th - 19th century.' The medieval portion of the house was placed under the guardianship of the Ministry of Works in 1948 - 49.
