West Door, St Cuthbert's Church
'The twin oak doors are separated by a stone pillar and flanked by recessed pillars wirth carved capitals. A statue of St Cuthbert bearing the head of St Oswald and a staff stands before the central pillar of the doorway. A Gothic arch springs from the flanking pillar capitals and is decorated with small carved roundels. The tympanum encloses the four, winged, evangelical symbols which in turn surround a vesica bearing a carving of our Lord seated in Glory'

The 'Rivergreen Centre' at Aykley Heads (2006) has gained many architectural awards, not least for its environmental credentials. Some photos of the building and surrounds would be welcomed by us exiles from the County Palatinate. See http://www.rivergreen.co.uk/news.php?news_id=71
