The dunes in the foreground are a valued resource and are the subject of a five year project funded by Defra to widen the dunes by up to 30m (98ft), to reduce the risk of flooding and erosion. There wasn't much wind today. When there is sand from the dunes can fetch up on the main road behind the viewpoint SD3031 : A584, near Blackpool International Airport
