Amanita citrina (False Death Cap) in Drayton Wood
This pair of fully-grown Amanita citrina (False Death Cap) are more typical than those I photographed the previous week (SP9208 : Amanita citrina - The False Death Cap) and show the veil fragments on their caps more clearly. This attractive fungus is poisonous and should certainly be avoided, for as its name suggests it could be confused with the deadly Death Cap (Amanita phalloides).
I also found a young example of this fungus a few yards away, see SP9207 : Amanita citrina (False Death Cap) - immature
