A recently "hatched" immature specimen of Amanita muscaria, the famous Fly Agaric fungus. See SP9207 : Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria) group for more information on this species.
This fungus was a little smaller than a ping-pong ball, maybe 3cm diameter.
