taken 10 years ago, near to Royston, Glasgow, Scotland
A finely detailed Category B Listed building Link at the corner of Argyle Street and King Street in Flemish Baronial style. Dating from 1895, by architect A B MacDonald.
The City Improvement Trust was a body which was set up to improve the squalid living conditions that existed in many parts of Glasgow in the latter half of the nineteenth century. Visits to Paris by the trustees influenced the adoption of the traditional tenement house style (typical of Baron Haussman Link ) to rehouse many thousands of Glaswegians.
Other nearby examples of the trust's properties Link can be found opposite on Trongate and at High Street and Saltmarket.
