Wheathampstead: Site of Leasey Bridge Lane level crossing
Wheathampstead: Site of Leasey Bridge Lane level crossing
This is the location where the Great Northern Railway's branch line connecting Welwyn with Luton and Dunstable passed over Leasey Bridge Lane. The single track railway opened in 1860 and closed 105 years later in 1965. The large white posts appear to be all that remains of the level crossing.
