March: St Wendreda - cobwebbed angel
One of the angels of the double hammerbeam roof (1470-1520) which is invariably cited as the finest in England. According to Simon Jenkins in "England's Thousand Best Churches", there are 118, in addition to saints and apostles. Finished just in time for the Reformation, the roof escaped the attentions of iconoclasts (and, later, Victorian restorers, as Jenkins points out).
